The annual Swedish Poker-SM Online Championship Series (PSMO) is back on 888poker beginning on May 1. Once again, we will be the event’s exclusive sponsor, and right now you can win your way in via one of our $11 PSMO Kval Satellite tournaments, which we’re running every day!

The one-week series kicks off with our PSMO Freeroll at 19.00 on Monday, May 1. On the same day, there will be a $20+$2 PSMO Low Roller. Other highlights on the schedule include the $50+$5 PSMO Deepstack on Wednesday, May 3; $50+$5 PSMO PLO8 on Thursday, May 4; and the cornerstone $150+$15 PSMO Main Event on Sunday, May 7 at 19.00.

“We expect the Main Event to host 250-300 players,” said Mauritz Altikardes, CEO of Poker Event Svenska. “I believe that familiar 888 regulars such as WSOP bracelet winner Peter Eichardt, Jerry ‘perrymejsen’ Ödeen, former PSML ME winner Emma Wikberg, as well as the latest PSML Main Event winner, Pontus Magnusson, and some of the old-school names, will take a shot at becoming the next Swedish Poker Champion.”

Team888 Set to Play

This marks the second year that we’ve sponsored the event as part of our partnership with both PokerEvent and the Swedish Poker Federation for the online Swedish Poker Championships 2016/17. The Swedish Poker-SM Online Championship started back in 2006 and has been held annually ever since. In 2014, the single tournament morphed into a festival with events in different poker variants.

“Soon it’ll be time for the Swedish Poker Championship Online 2017,” said 888 Ambassador and Swedish Pro. “This is a tournament I love to play, and 888poker is a major partner for the second year in a row. Sweden is today a leading country in online poker, and most of the best Swedish MTT players are now playing regularly on 888poker. Swedes are usually quite polite and timid, but when it comes to poker - no mercy - you can expect an aggressive and entertaining game with lots of three-betting, four-betting and bluffing. I invite all you Swedes, pros or less experienced, to play. Everybody has a chance. I'm going all in, so if you want to win, you'll have to call me down!”

Last year’s PSMO Main Event of 888poker drew 144 players – a number expected to nearly double this year – and saw “Blaser75” emerge victorious to win $4,968. Other winners from last year included “Skuumberg” besting a field of 99 to win the $27 Low Roller for $618.75, “Nlsbrn” coming out on top of a 75-player field in the $55 Deepstack for $1,031.25; and “Rushtomten” outlasting 100 other players to win the $55 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max for $1,376.12.

“I’m excited that we, 888poker and PokerEvent, will take last year´s kick off, when we launched the collaboration regarding the PSMO, to the next level,” Altikardes continued. “I´d say that both parties have worked really hard to gain trust and brand awareness within the poker community throughout Sweden. We´ve established very good ties with several clubs, and I believe that we´ll see the result of this during the PSMO week. 888poker has clearly shown that, as a brand, they´re in for the long haul and does firmly believing in supporting the grassroots poker and the leisure players, hence the low buy-ins and the close ties with the poker clubs. This Poker-SM Online, PSMO, is for the players on their terms.”
